Kindness or Slackness? #1 Taxi Driver

Since I always publish/post here about the significant events that really impress us. Strangers who show their kindness to others with or without any thing in return. But in this series of articles, I will talk about the situations that either show kindness or slackness. Anyway, just read the rest of this article to know what I mean.

I finished working last saturday. I was in a hurry because my classmate "Paul" organized a reunion party in which he played his own mixes (he is a Dj). It was 10pm already and it was hard to catch train and taxi. I knew I won't be able to catch the train because the trains come every 30 minutes so I decided to call a taxi.

I called one company taxi named "Premier Cab" I had to call several times because the line was always busy, it was night of saturday so it's obvious that there were heaps of people who want to get a taxi that time. Good thing that I got through the busy line and booked a taxi.

I knew it will be a long wait so I called another taxi company named "Silver Service" Same with the previous taxi company hotline, it was really hot. I can not get through the busy line for almost 15 minutes. When the time I got through, I had to talk to a machine operator so know what suburb I was in, then it will direct me to a real operator. While I was talking to the machine operator, a silver service taxi came by. It stopped in front of me and asked me where I was heading to. I told the driver I was going to Flemington Train Station but he begun to say his excuses.

He said he have a work in other place. He even pushed some buttons in his machine, etc. and looked in his clock. Here in Sydney, a taxi driver must not stop to a customer, ask where he/she headed to, and then refuse to accomodate the customer. If this happen, the customer have the rights to send a complain to the authorities. Anyway the taxi driver goes, but he came back and let me in the taxi. He said he will bring me to a nearby taxi rank (that's what I heard from him). We stopped to a stop light, I ask him where are we going so I can have confirmation. He said we were going to MortLake. I was like WTF? MortLake is at the other direction where I was going to. This guy was leading me further away from my destination. I immediately got off his taxi and walked away from his taxi.

Good thing I asked him where are we going otherwise I will be lost that night. He showed some kindness but it wasn't enough. If he really cares, he should've called his taxi company and asked if they can send another taxi to pick me up.

Tip:
Be careful riding a taxi especially at night times.
