I went to my school on September 9, 2008. It was just an ordinary day. It was boring in the class. I should've went to my ex-gf's (Mirapen) house instead of coming to school. My teacher gave us some class activities but I couldn't work on it since my external hard drive needed the AV adaptor which it shouldn't ask for it since I used it before without plugging it in a electricity. My teacher was talking to us and he asked me about Mirapen and about me having a baby soon.
Then after few minutes...
Mirapen's mom called me on my mobile phon. She asked me to go to the Hospital because Mirapen was in labor already. Soon she'll give birth to my child! So I was shocked, nervous and confused. I asked my teacher if I can go already. Then so I did.
Because I was nervous, I called my mom to inform her about Mirapen. Before I went to the hospital, I went home to get my video camera and other stuffs. I didn't even had the chance to change my clothes which I used for my school class.
I arrived at the hospital, went to the 6th floor and wait at the reception. Then the nurse asked me if I can go inside. There they were, Mirapen, her mom, and her cousin. Usually they only allow two relatives to be with the patient but they made some exemption for me.
Mirapen wasn't ready to give birth at that moment, so the nurses gave her some time to walk around the corridor to help the contraction. I saw Mirapen's agony but it wasn't as intense as the other women who are in labor. Sometimes she was calm and relax. She is so strong that's for sure.
After few hours, the nurses decided if they can break a little portion Mirapen's placenta to force the water to come out. Mirapen only had the gas, she didn't use morphine or any injections. She wasn't even shouting and scolding anyone which pregnant women usually do when in labor. The nurses asked me to go out of the room to perform their tasks.
As I waited at the reception, I became so tired and sleepy. After few minutes, a nurse ask me if I have a video camera on me. I thought she only needed the camera so I was taking off the camera strap from my arm, but she added, "You have a baby boy. You can come to the room now. Congratulations!" Then I was
shocked at that moment.
Then while I was walking through the corridor towards the room, I heard my child crying! That moment was the unforgettable moment in my life. I literally have a smile on my face and my eyes became wide open. My tiredness and sleepy state of mind became active and full of endure. A new life welcomed the world. His name is Gian Zyrus Charles.
As I walked in the room, the nurses asked me if I can cut the cord between the Gian and Mirapen. Then I told to myself, "Are these guys nuts? I am so freaking nervous! How can I even hold a scissor and cut the cord?!" I was so afraid that something wrong might happen if I cut those cords. So Mirapen's mom cut the cord instead.
The nurses cleaned Gian and wrapped him up in a blanket. I was just watching at him crying. I was trying to sink the fact that I am a father already. After he was wrapped, the nurse suddenly gave Gian to me! Then I thought, "These nurses are so annoying! Can't they see that I am so nervous? Then they gave the baby to me! What if something bad happen?!" As I hold him close to my body, I was so happy.
Then the nurses took the placenta out of Mirapen's body and showed it to us! I didn't feel gross about it though. It just looked like a meat taken from the supermarket. Hehe..
Mirapen was so tired and sleepy. She couldn't even raise her arm or open her eyes. After the nurse cleaned the mess and finish the procedure, Mirapen had her snacks. I was relieved and glad nothing wrong happened to her and my baby.
We transfered to a new room. Only the mother can stay with the baby, even the partner can not stay with them! They are so strict. So while we are saying goodbye to them, I saw Gian looking at the ceiling quietly. He was so cute! He is not that loud and don't cry that much.
I thank God for the blessing he gave us. I thank God nothing wrong happen to Mirapen and Gian.
